The holiday season is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. But if you don’t have holiday professional voicemail greetings designed to keep callers engaged and on the line during longer-than-usual wait times, it might just not be so wonderful.
Most callers expect businesses to be busy during the holiday season. So that will buy you some time. But not much. Statistics show that callers will only wait so long before hanging up and calling someone else. You risk losing sales by not having holiday professional voicemail greetings in place.
Bryant Wilson, On Hold Company’s CEO, offers three tips for managing on hold callers during peak shopping seasons.
“Call volume can be hard to predict, especially during the Christmas season,” he said. “So some wait time is to be expected. The key is how companies handle that time.”
“If consumers are told how long they will have to wait, they’re more willing to be patient,” says Wilson
“Relevant messages and appropriate holiday music for business can shorten the perceived wait-time.”
“If a caller is told to expect a five-minute on hold wait, and someone picks up the line after two minutes, that’s a positive experience,” Wilson said. “But don’t let a five-minute forecast turn into a ten-minute wait!”
